SyncMate – Sync Tool For Mac And Android

SyncMate is the application we want to present today. Even though in the title it is mentioned it works with Android phones, tablets and Mac, it actually allows you to sync Mac with Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with other MacBooks, with personal computers running Windows, plus it lets you backup your data online, sync the information you want from your MacBook with your Dropbox account, Google account, sync with mounted storages, Sony PlayStation and iPod Nano.

Alright, after establishing what are the exact devices targeted by this application, let's see what it is capable of syncing. With this app, users can sync whatever they want; on the Website of the team that has created this application, Eltima Software, we are told that anything from contacts, music tracks, images, calendars, videos and more can be synced between the devices presented earlier.

SyncMate - Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: sync-mac.com)

SyncMate – Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: sync-mac.com)

For example, if you are tired of entering your contacts in your MacBook and also on your Android phone, this application will prove to be very useful, because it will offer you the possibility of entering them a single time. You can sync Address Book and iCal (belonging to the MacBook) with Android Contacts and Calendar (Android). Also, your favorite music, images and other multimedia files can be easily synced between a MacBook and an Android device. Still, transferring videos requires a lot more free space, so before doing that, make sure you have plenty of space on your Android.

Another great feature of SyncMate is that you can text directly from your MacBook. And not only this. Users can view, create, send and delete messages they receive on their Android using the MacBook keyboard. Then, those messages can be exported into different other formats.

SyncMate - Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

SyncMate – Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

In general, when it comes to other devices that offer sync features, you need to transfer that information from a MacBook to another specific phone, tablet or computer. In other words, this will work like this: if you don't have an HTC, you cannot use a certain app. This is not the case with SyncMate, which works with any Android device, being it a smartphone or a tablet. No need to search for a certain way to synchronize your MacBook with your LG Android phone or with a Motorola Droid. With SyncMate, it doesn't matter what device you have, as long as it runs Android. Also, it doesn't matter what version of this operating system your device runs; it can be 1, 2, 3 or 4, this application will sync information without problems.

SyncMate - Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

SyncMate – Sync Tool For Mac And Android (Source: a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

Another white ball for the developers of this application and for the application itself is that you can mount your Android device as a MacBook disk and access all information stored on your Android product while browsing its content from your MacBook. Why not see images on a larger screen and manage files better, thanks to this more comfortable way of viewing them?

SyncMate comes in two versions: Free and Expert. Many of the features presented earlier work only for those that download the paid app. The free application offers only the possibility of syncing your contacts (Address Book, Outlook 2011, Entourage 2008), syncing iCal, reading SMSs and backuping online 50 MB (storage space). We recommend you to get the Expert version, because it comes with everything that was aforementioned and much more. Before purchasing this application, check the available plugins for your device, because they may differ. For more detailed info, we will ask you to visit the site of this developer, present at the beginning of this article.

Android Phone On Mac

Android based phones are currently ruling over the smartphone market segment side by side with the Apple giant, the iPhone. While Apple has a single smartphone that seems to cover all aspects, Google and its Android OS seemed to have webbed out to just about any respectable smartphone manufacturer beginning with Motorola and Samsung and ending with HTC, Sony, Huawei and many others. Henceforth the Android OS is the most known throughout the smartphone industry.

Android Phone On Mac (Source: static8.businessinsider.com)

Android Phone On Mac (Source: static8.businessinsider.com)

But when it comes to the interaction between the two giants, Google and Apple, things seem to be heated and unfortunately the customers are those who have to suffer and find solutions. For instance owning a MacBook just because you like the OS more or you simply enjoy the Mac OS does not necessarily mean that you should definitely own an iPhone as well. But here is the problem, in case you’re the happy owner of a MacBook and an Android based smartphone getting them to interact with each other can be quite tricky. Syncing them is probably the most difficult of operations, but fortunately still can be done (with no thanks to Google or Apple, but to third party programs and their kind developers).

If you want to successfully interact with your Android phone, then you will have to create a Gmail account. As unreasonable as it may seem, you should go the extra mile and create and use the Gmail account.  Believe me, the alternative is much harder. Once you’ve created the account sync just about everything with your account. This will make your experience with the Android interface a lot richer.

Now, if you want to sync music, videos, photos and other files with your Mac then your best bet would be doubleTwist. This nice program will allow you to import just about any kind of files from iTunes (with doing the heavy lifting for you such as importing files and converting them to fit your phone). The only restriction is with videos purchased from iTunes. The program will not be able to import them due to the DRM protection bestowed on each of the iTunes-purchased files. Naturally, the logical thing to do would be dragging and dropping the files, but since the files would be unconverted your phone will most likely be unable to detect them as usable files.

The coolest thing about doubleTwist is the fact that it recognizes and supports hundreds of different smartphones. It will be compatible with Blackberries, iPhones, Android OS – based smartphones, and even Windows mobile smartphones. This compendium of smartphone to pc compatibility tool is probably your greatest ally whether you want to setup contacts, mails and files.

Samsung Android Galaxy

This time Samsung has really done it. The moment they’ve launched on the market the new Samsung Galaxy S2 competition just failed. Apple, HTC, Sony, Motorola everything seemed to fail in comparison. The Korean firm brought a monster on the market. The turbine like 1.2 GHz dual core processor, the high quality look and super slim chassis made it easy to understand why competition was simply blown away. The only real threat to it is the long expected iPhone 5 which is supposed to come with huge improvements and processing power.

Samsung Android Galaxy (Source: ecellphone.net)

Samsung Android Galaxy (Source: ecellphone.net)

It may not be one of the cheapest phones one the market but the 519.99 pounds giant is worth every single penny.

First of all the phone is outstandingly thin compared to other handsets on the market. We’ve known for a long time that Samsung were experts when it came to cramming up loads of powerful components in a tight spot but this is ridiculous. It’s got nearly the same size as the iPhone 4 and the Xperia Arc, and has more performance than both of them combined. It is amazingly light as well weighing 116g.

The only problem that comes with this considerable weight reduction is the fact that Samsung has relinquished completely the premium feel of a metal case. You’ll see that by simply popping the “hood” and removing the battery. Without it, it seems like a rather flimsy piece of plastic.

However, turning it around and being hit by the elegance and beauty of the superb Super AMOLED Plus screen will make you forget about all that. The huge 4.3 inch screen will blow you away with the power and brightness of its colors.

Samsung Android Galaxy (Source: cellphonequick.com)

Samsung Android Galaxy (Source: cellphonequick.com)

There isn’t a think this phone cannot do. It comes with what we thing is currently the strongest performance on the market, at least that’s what our benchmarks say. It is equipped with a massive processing power provided by the dual core 1.2 GHz Orion processor and no less than 2 GB of RAM memory. Hit this baby with your best shot from the Android Market, the processor won’t even flinch.

The camera has everything beginning with autofocus and LED flash and ending with 8 MP and 1080p video recording capabilities.

This phone can easily turn to dust the fabled reputation of the Motorola Atrix or the LG Optimus 2X when it comes to pure speed. If it weren’t for the cheap feel of it, because of all that plastic we’d rate this phone as the perfect one.

Best Android Phone Ever

Picking the best Android phone in an ever developing market can be tricky business. We wrote  review a couple of months ago on the exact same subject. Now we had to throw it in the dumpster since not even one of the phones had made it on the new list. Well now it’s September and there were so heavy releases this summer.

Starting with the one that probably gets the closest to the title: the Samsung Galaxy S2. Samsung has really gone far in terms of integration and technology since they actually have managed to pack a ton of high tech in one of the thinnest handsets that you can find today on the market. The Galaxy S2 is the reigning champion when it comes to processing power being packed with a turbocharged 1.2 GHz dual core processor, an 8 MB camera that comes with video support in 720p and 1080p HD quality, while the images are shown on the gorgeous Super AMOLED screen. Not to mention that it has support for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Of course it’s not all about performance and charts. The real world is where it all counts and the HTC Sensation seems to excel at it. Coming with the latest Android 2.3.3 right out of the box, the HTC Sensation is coming hard on the trail of the Samsung Galaxy S2, packing also a 1.2 GHz dual core processor that can deliver outstanding web browsing capabilities and movie playing without any kind of freeze-frames whatsoever. The beautiful HTC Sense interface has been remodeled to include 3D home screens into the equation as well. Everything is shows on the huge 4.3 inch screen. In terms of camera, exactly like the Galaxy S2, the HTC Sensation comes with an 8MB camera and the same video capabilities.

Best Android Phone Ever (Source: cdn.androidtapp.com)

Best Android Phone Ever (Source: cdn.androidtapp.com)

After the disaster that was the Xperia X10 series from Sony, they came back with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc that is probably considered to be Sony’s finest. This one comes boasting a whopping 4.2 inch screen and the Android Gingerbread on board. The LED backlit screen has always been a favorite for Sony which besides it all, it’s quite inexpensive at well since the battery remains charged even after anyone else’s has drained.

So which one do you think would suit you best? Frankly I’ll go with the Samsung every time.
